Letter to my younger self

Image
Hello! Hello! It's been really long, and a lot has happened in these in-between times. I will not spend my words discussing all the events in this post, but I will surely share a few lessons learned along the way. I wanted to do it in a format that I have missed over the years, writing letters. I watched a theater play about letters shared between two friends over the years, then I read a book about letters exchanged between a female American author and a male who worked at a bookstore in London. This was followed by 'letters' as a theme that was chosen for our monthly reading club. And the letter that I wrote as my read is published in this post. When I stumbled upon life lessons as an adult, I thought, what if I had known these lessons at a younger age? That idea sprouted and transformed into the letter to my younger self below. It was not easy to write in all those lessons with 'no spoilers' of the events that may follow. I didn't really want it to sound like...

Time Wise

After a long hiatus of sorts, I am back. It surely was a long pause but it was just a comma and not a coma :) Today I want to share with you what I have learned over the last couple of years about my Life, about any Life actually. If it gets too long, I might have to divide it into two or three posts. What according to you is the most important thing about Life? Is it Love, Wealth, Compassion or Time we spend here. I always believed it was the Time and kept seeking sources to figure out how and why we spend this time on earth. I read many biographies to check whether the greats have figured it out, but all that I read in my growing up years only confirmed that time is the most important resource we have and that at the end of Life, most of the souls recall back on their lives and wish they had more time to revisit their life and do what they missed out on. Why does everyone say that? Why is it never enough? Probably because we fill it with things that really don't matter;...

Let it go, Let it go!!

"Let it go, Let it go...can't hold it back anymore" :)  This song from Frozen has a deep meaning for me and you will soon know why. Perfectionist, supermom, multitasker, extremely organized; these are some of the adjectives that always made me feel good about myself and my way of life until I felt suffocated trying to keep up to the praise. I had to strive and let go of my 'perfect' way of life to make some compassionate space for the 'imperfect' me. My obsession with my compulsions and the eternal craving for order and neatness in my Life was a little short of turning into a disorder.  My close friend, who always lends an earnest ear to the monkey inside my mind, makes me aware that I almost always dig up inconsequential stuff to get stressed over. She assures me that my life can be totally peaceful and fun only if I let go of this quest for perceived perfection.   However, it is an ongoing internal struggle that I deal with every day since th...
